Midea's success in heating and cooling 96 apartment buildings at a Canadian college

During the summer vacations of 2023 and 2024, the Henan Aibo team worked hard on the “heating and cooling” of 96 newly built apartment buildings on the campus of a college in Canada.
The Henan Aibo team used 96 sets of 15HP Zhongguang ultra-low-temperature commercial dual-supply units and 10 sets of Zhongguang commercial heat pump water heaters to create a complete set of comfortable cooling and heating system and comfortable hot water system for the apartment buildings, which can cover a cooling and heating area of 43,300 square meters, and provide more than 3,000 students with comfortable cooling, heating and warming ring temperature and comfortable hot water services.
This college in Canada, established in 2000, is a general full-time private undergraduate college with media and art majors as its main subjects, and art, literature and other multidisciplinary subjects as its compatible subjects.
Canada, where the project is located, has four distinct seasons and a wide range of temperatures. The lowest temperature in winter is -13℃, and the highest temperature in summer is 41℃. The temperature difference is so large that it must be supported by cooling, heating and hot water equipment that can operate stably in extreme environments.
After comparing more than 30 brands and their products, the hospital finally decided to use Midea's ultra-low-temperature commercial dual-supply units and water heaters to provide cooling, heating and hot water services for 96 student apartment buildings.
After the task was finalized, the Henan Aibo team went to the site to investigate and determine the installation location. The apartment buildings consist of a cluster of three-story detached villas, with two units in each building housing nearly 30 students. Each apartment building is an independently existing villa, and each apartment is equivalent to a small project, which made the installation work difficult.
In the end, the construction team decided to set up a cooling and heating source installation point between every two buildings, installing two cooling and heating units with fan coils at the end; six sets of 25HP and four sets of 30HP Zhongguang commercial heat pump water heaters, as well as two 45t and two 35t water tanks, were installed at the corners of the apartment complex to centralize the water production and then deliver it to each apartment.
“The construction was concentrated during the summer vacation so as not to affect the students' study life.” Henan Aibo's partner, New Energy Development Group Co., Ltd. responsible for on-site construction, recalled, “The project started off well, but no one expected that a sudden rainstorm would wash out all of our original pre-dug pipeline trenches overnight. Immediately after the rain, the staff drained and cleaned up, re-excavated, and worked overtime to catch up with the schedule before ensuring the project was delivered on time.”
After the completion of the installation, the winter indoor heating temperature of the apartment building is not less than 18 ℃, which can meet the demand of Party A. The maximum daily water supply of the comfort hot water system of the apartment building is 160t, which can ensure that the students can use the comfort hot water.
Although the project has been completed and the system is running stably, Henan Aibo still doesn't forget to provide services, conducts regular inspections and eliminates hidden troubles in time.
